Where it all STARTED

I started to explore makeup at the age of 13 during my first job which was in a quaint, family-owned pharmacy. I found that I became naturally drawn to the small number of cosmetics the shop sold. Although it is now 20 years ago, I still remember clearly me wearing a shirt and tie whilst fearlessly demonstrating makeup to customers waiting for their prescriptions. I look back at that young, fearless and passionate part of me wanting to help others look and feel their best and it always makes me smile. This same feeling continues to drive me as a professional makeup artist to this day.

Through experimental expression and self-transformation during my teenage years I have been fortunate to progress into working with brands such as Giorgio Armani, Lancôme, MAC, NYX, L’Oréal, Wella, Harvey Nichols, the BBC and Sony. All of this whilst I was making small waves in the LGBTQ+ and online beauty community.

Not satisfied with being a self-taught makeup artist, I pursued an accredited education within cosmetic makeup, women’s hair styling and men’s barbering. This led me onto achieving a Higher-Educational Diploma in Theatrical, Media and Special Effects Makeup which is something I’m incredibly proud of.

Whilst I was a student, I was headhunted by an international events company who offered me a role as lead makeup artist. Working firstly with Europe’s largest digital gaming convention, Gamescom. This involved working closely with a fleet of models and transforming them into specific characters through the theatrical creativity of makeup, hair and wig styling.

After spending time in Germany, I was offered a permanent role as lead makeup artist for the international events team and was incredibly excited to move to Tokyo, Japan. Whilst in Japan I worked for such events as Tokyo Runway, Tokyo Designer Week and the Tokyo Games Show.

Moving from Tokyo to London I furthered my knowledge to educate others in the art of makeup by working for Charlotte Tilbury as a lead makeup artist. Whilst living in London I also worked on events such as The British Fashion Awards and London Fashion week.

Throughout all of my time as a makeup artist I have found amazing family and friends within the LGBTQ+ Community. I naturally progressed to offering a tailored and specific service for the trans community. I began my feminisation makeup service 12 years ago and was an original makeup artist for many UK based trans events. I have organised feminisation and drag masterclasses partnering with cosmetic brands and solely as The Yorkshire Makeup Artist.

Now, residing in my home county of Yorkshire I have crafted and refined my makeup, hair styling, wig styling and barbering skills over the last 10+ years.

Thank you for reading my journey, so far.
